The Concept Car Comes to Life

The first thing shoppers will notice is that the 2023 BMW XM looks like nothing else on the road today. The second thing they will notice is the impressive performance. The 2023 BMW XM arrives in spring 2023 and is certain to draw attention with its brutalist exterior design, luxuriously classic interior, and a performance-inspired plug-in hybrid powertrain. Based on the Concept XM released in 2021, the 2023 BMW XM sets a new trend in two-row, luxury performance SUVs.

The sales team at Gebhardt BMW near Valmont is ready to answer questions and help you order your 2023 BMW XM SUV.

High-Tech PHEV Powertrain

The concept-car-come-to-life design process created an exceptionally engineered SUV that defied expectations. The 2023 XM comes with a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine with an electric motor powered by a 25.7-kWh hybrid battery. Drivers will get about 30 miles from the electric motor after a Level-2 three-hour charge fills the battery pack.

The plug-in hybrid powertrain delivers 644 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque. The speedy acceleration pushes drivers into their seats for an exhilarating ride that only comes from vehicles developed in the BMW performance division. The XM reaches 60 MPH in a zippy 3.5 seconds and the vehicle reaches 155 MPH. The BMW XM will easily compete with SUVs like the Lamborghini Urus.

BMW is offering the XM in two trims. The XM and the XM Label Red. The high-performance Label Red trim is tuned to achieve 738 horsepower. Managing that horsepower and torque isn’t easy, so engineers added a coil-spring suspension with adaptive dampers and active anti-roll bars. Drivers can adjust the RPMs and fuel efficiency by using Sport or Comfort mode.

Tech and Safety Features

BMW is still holding some details secret, but the automaker has released a few details about the tech and safety features. Standard driver-assistive features include Automated Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning, and Lane Keep Assist. BMW will offer available Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering for a semi-autonomous driving experience.

Additional interior tech features include the massive curved display that stretches across the majority of the dash. This display showcases the digital gauges and infotainment with iDrive8, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Classic Interior Styling in a Futuristic SUV

The 2023 BMW XM interior exceeds expectations, even for the iconic automaker. On the outside, the XM has a futuristic, brutalist design. But on the inside, it screams classic luxury. The carbon fiber finishes are accented with vintage-inspired luxury brown leather. Design engineers included a thoughtfully designed headliner made with vegan suede and a fiber optic lighting feature embedded into it. The headliner also includes a massive panoramic sunroof.

BMW set a new design standard with the 2023 XM. Rather than following the herd with minimalist design, the XM goes maximalist with rich leather and BMW logo accents. The quilted leather seats will remind passengers of luxurious libraries of days gone by. The automaker left no doubt that the SUV is from BMW thanks to the XM logo embedded into the front seats.

On the outside, the brutalist exterior features a sloping roofline, sharp arches, and 23-inch M wheels. BMW engineers added the first-ever vertical quad exhaust with a nod to the kidney grille.

The Label Red

The BMW XM on its own is an impressive vehicle with outstanding power and luxurious styling. But, BMW turned up the performance with the BMW XM Label Red, which will set the standard for the upcoming series of XM Label models from M.

The inaugural Label model features a performance-tuned PHEV powertrain that delivers 735 horsepower and 735 lb-ft of torque. It will also have unique paint choices, wheels, and upholstery. Drivers can expect to see the Label Red trim in the summer of 2023. It will have a higher price than the 2023 BMW XM price.
