Polished Performance
With more and more manufacturers going all-electric, BMW has moved way beyond setting targets for electric vehicle adoption and into actually adding capable electric vehicles to their line. From the iX to the i4, and the ultra-luxurious i7, these vehicles stand for much of what makes BMW the ultimate driving machine: powerful yet refined performance.
Lightning-Quick Performance
Whatever BMW electric vehicle you choose, you can rest assured you'll benefit from a competent powertrain setup. The i7 xDrive 60, for instance, is powered by a 308-horsepower motor on the rear axle that works alongside a 255-horsepower front-mounted motor to deliver a combined 563 horsepower. This engine is also lightning quick, making the spring from zero to 60 mph sprint in just 4.5 seconds. The i7 xDrive 60 is said to have around 300 miles of driving range.
For its part, the BMW iX is available with a choice of powertrains. The iX xDrive50 features two current-excited synchronous motors (one up front and one in the rear) that generate 618 horsepower total output and 811 lb-ft of torque. The iX M60 features the same configuration as the iX ixDrive50 but boosts output to 618 total horsepower and 811 lb-ft of torque.
If you're considering something less potent, the i4 eDrive40 might be ideal. It is equipped with a current-excited synchronous motor that produces 335 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. If you like the i4 but prefer something more robust, consider the i4 M50, which comes with two current-excited synchronous motors that generate a combined 530 horsepower and 586 lb-ft of torque.
